The Church Of Rhythm (Music Video) - "The Church Of Rhythm" Album

EFF cum regeneratur

This music experience, as anything alive, morphs and (re)produces entities as symbols of meaning of survival. EFF is also the Church of Rhythm, because the holiness is somehow gone and preaching seems to induce hate. We went into the invention and appropriation of the holy, to be able to praise as an act of redemption of our own mortality.

Holy Shit! Praising the Expression

EFF is a collective as collective and diverse are its expressions… it explores itself internally not to come up with a defined product taken from a specific production line, so you can have what you are expecting from them… a repetitive form, an adequate formula for engagement and success… but rather organised bits and pieces from experiences that can sound and look very heterogeneous.

EFF as an exploration of that mixture of places, emotions and productions which can take any direction or all the directions.Today we have taken the direction of expansion, of reproduction.

Guys, EFF is more than four, its mental family is growing, institutions and personas are being built.

Define ft. Gianfra - “F(r)âme(s)” Album

Basic needs of human conditions are easy fulfilled in western modern societies: breath, drink, eat, sleep, etc. But after these, the brains move to the next level of awareness: what are we? What is our goal in life? What is our legacy once we are gone?

This internal struggle seems at first very unnecessary but at a deeper look is the core of the human existence. For many people this process is unbearable and brings them to extreme choices, on the contrary for others it is barely felt. Sometimes the socio-economical situation we are in define a future with no alternatives, sometimes we need to evolve and move away from it.

Relocating is always felt as a good way out from difficult realities, but often brings guilt to the emigrants: the feeling that you are escaping, that instead of fighting back, you are taking the easy path. But at the end, life fulfillment isn’t it about finding the way to a better future?

This song brings together all those feelings and mixes them up with dark sonority to generate a deep and intimate conversation between two old friends separated by many kilometers.

Cheers
Stevo

Lyrics:
It’s a long time my friend

Since I see this landscape
Has been a hard time to defend
My pride and do not escape

But now the hills are way down below me

And I feel mother earth talking to me
Again I trust the world and I know that I have to try

Define myself

I’ll do anything to define myself

All around me, bad things are happening

It’s so worrying, I understand, and it’s hard but I have to
When I’ll meet you again
On a spaceship or on a train
I will know I have fulfilled my faith

But now the hills are way down below me

And I feel mother earth talking to me
Again I trust the world and I know that I have to try

Define myself

I’ll do anything to define myself
Define my head
Define my death

His Name - “F(r)âme(s)” Album

How do we normal world dwellers perceive and exercise power and how do we react when we become unwanted subjects of power structures?

In the current times revealing oneself by practicing a transparent authenticity online is a must to be recognised as a peer, as a reliable person.

Revealing yourself from where I come from is letting one be vulnerable, weaken by information, but nowadays information and the active sharing of it, means to exist, it is an auto definition of what you would like to be, a certain aspirational move.

But can you really share everything you think, can you allow yourself to be critical, open and bold about certain topics? The answer relies in context, in the sociopolitical to be more exact.

The globality of ideas contrast with the different reactions and consequences you would have to face depending on where you live: political and societal vindications can mean you will be trolled in internet or you will end up dead.

If everything is about content production and information sharing, power is exercised by controlling the content and monopolizing information channels. Dissident voices are perceived by power structures and its representatives as uncontrolled variables that disturb order, such voices are considered in many cases military targets.

The power of nations and their big military parades are a reminder that coercion can always come as an unexpected private intrusion at your home but haven’t you let the door open?

In any case don't say the name!

Abelardo, that is the name!

Lyrics:
Can’t remember the fella
That came that day
Can’t remember the fella
That killed the faith

Don’t wanna say his name

Suddenly the police came in

Asking for information of the location of my beloved

Don’t wanna say his name

Alteration is just, just a peak of time!

Don’t wanna say his name

Dirty Veins ft. Gianfra - “F(r)âme(s)” Album

Hedonism and friendship, freedom and creativity, all seen through the lens of adolescence. When partying and substances take the place of values and inspiration, the life seems like a rollercoaster of emotions. But how far can the boredom and emptiness of countryside can push the minds of young people? How far can families and authorities impact their lives?

This song is an introspection in the youth of millions of people, a reflection about the destiny of many youngsters that live their lives thought adulterated targets and goals: who can get higher? Who can stand more booze? Who can cross the mine field of drugs without step on the most dangerous one?

Cheers
Stevo

Lyrics:
Do you remember how much fun we used to have?
Meeting each other and with scooters run around
Do whatever we could to reach the goal
Play in the garage and smash drum sticks
Enjoy the sun and the goods in the fields

Do you remember the runs from the police?
And evenings lost in self-destruction
It escalate, I don’t know you anymore
All the time spent together, all the people we met
Is only me and you here now

That dirty veins ruined the time, ruined the people I used to love so much
Dirty veins never let you go away, and we are alone now yes we are
Gears of a machinery called life
Gears of our own future that will not let us know how!

Explode - “F(r)âme(s)” Album

Same As Before?

Sometimes we wake up from the dream of growing up. Still numb from the cranky sleep we slowly realize that in the effort to be recognized as an adult we become someone else. We look around and we just don't know how we got there; how we accepted to be a version of ourselves that we have been always so critical about.

But are we the same? Same as before? Decisions and the compromises commanded by the passage of time transform us from young idealistic resourceful flowers to rooted disenchanted trees. The uncompromising values followed so passionately in youth faded out to a routine of alarm-car-screen-coffee-screen-lunch-coffee-screen-car-dinner-TV-sleep, where ideals seem gone.

So, how can we commit to such a schizophrenic exercise without losing a bit or a lot of ourselves in the process? We need to find holes in the emotional net created by the society. We need to make some moments still count and do not get loose in the Personal expectation<->Society expectation<->Disappointment vicious circle. We have to revive the old ideals and adapt them to the new situation.

Explode is a scream of freedom to the others, is a cry to ourselves to remember what we have been and what we can still be: faith in truth and honesty is the only way to move on!

Cheers
Stevo

Lyrics:
Used to live in freedom believing in anarchy
Everybody with me
Same views and anger, sharing struggles everyday
Fast forward in the future and you see everything has variated
Doesn’t mean that I changed
But the eyes around here watch me in a very different way

I do same things, I act like before, you never see me through the door
I love my crew, I got their backs, spend all the time workin’ soundtracks
I do same things, I act like before, you never see me through the door
Am I bad? Is it wrong? You should just turn and leave me alone

Can’t stand anymore those narrow walls, you’ve built around our souls
Harsh judgements, fake compliments, if I’ll hear them once more I’m gonna explode!!!!
Only you as the last moral hero, Can tell what’s right and what’s wrong
Sarcasm and criticisms, shut up and hear my words then your dumb head will explode!!!!

Put on a mask and behave for the society I must
But I will not adjust
Faith in truth and honesty it’s the only way to move on
I am bound to guilt and fake smiles and a slave I became
Hidden meanings to aim
In this world where people don’t share what they feel in their hearts

I do same things, I act like before, you never see me through the door
I love my crew, I got their backs, spend our time workin’ soundtracks
I do same things, I act like before, you never see me through the door
Am I bad? Is it wrong? You should just turn and leave me alone

Can’t stand anymore those narrow walls, you’ve built around our souls
Harsh judgements, fake compliments, if I’ll hear them once more I’m gonna explode!!!!
Only you as the last moral hero, Can tell what’s right and what’s wrong
Sarcasm and criticisms, shut up and hear my words then your dumb head will explode!!!! Explode!!!!

F(r)âme(s) - “F(r)âme(s)” Album

One of the greatest social engines of our time is the auto-domestication of individuals; Subjects are pushing themselves constantly to be a better version of themselves, to adapt and be articulated into a society of success; assuming blindly a social order and its aesthetics. Look at Instagram.
We are absorbing a discourse of self development that brings no other than anxiety and frustration. And it is such a great engine because it is at the heart of innovation and entrepreneurship, it is the pillar for a society in which everyone is his or her own company that you have to sell and recreate in a market society. You frame yourself in relation to how likable you are which would "mean" how successful you "appear".

This album is evidently a counter culture message; embedded musically and acting as a tribute to the Rock of the 90; Grunge, New Punk, Etc. but is also a detachment from the suffering that this culture conveyed. It was again a heavy burden to feel only empowered by anger and rage which have ended in the auto destruction of some of the Counter Culture Prophets of the time. But still we could only profit from this social movement thanks to the big record deals and world tours, the counter culture could only exist as part of the big machine. So fame and grandeur were also desirable and sought after many kids and young adults, living a paradox, living this ill hybridity of wanting to be famous while conveying criticisms to a reigning social order, to the glamour and the superficiality.

So auto-imposed frames, the hunger (fame in Italian) for fame and the selling of the soul (âme in French) are at the conceptual heart of this song and the entire album. Cause we are here, anyhow, anyway and that's alright! Thanks for sharing this journey with us!

Lyrics:
And I’m here
Anyhow
Anyway
But it’s alright

All sold out

In my hopes
You will see
I restrain from fame

But you know it is okay

Is only frames

And I’m here

Anyhow
Anyway
But it’s alright

Songs in my soul

All these songs
Are my hopes
And they are mine

But you know it is okay

Restrained from fame

Songs in my soul

All these songs
Are my hopes
And they are mine

Vrais - “F(r)âme(s)” Album

The encounter of individuals, the intention of sharing a physical substantial moment, the game of seduction VS The depiction of sexuality and intimacy as taboo. The skin, the tongue, the naked body are still filled with symbolisms of forbidden or the contrary: The social imaginary of assuming an esthetic, the constant mis en scène is considered essential of contemporary existence; the body is an ideological tools and it is an object of control or to control.

Lyrics:

Translation:
True (Vrai)

Good evening miss, I almost did not notice that you are all alone with this air of being a little bored and we are already two, two souls in this cold universe that is around us and that invades us through the skin but my real universe is the light that I will see later in your eyes.

And I'm going to stop philosophizing and start talking to you in a Cartesian way, hinting at no illusion, you're beautiful and you're there and it brings us to the ideal conditions to getting to know you.

And it's true that I'm French
A moment of puberty
And it's true that I'm French
Impulses and naivety

See you miss, I wanted to tell you something: the universe also knows how to play with the circumstances surrounding a near perfect moment but the reason is yet against unless you impose yourself

And it's true that I'm French
Thousand moments of puberty
And it's true that I'm French
Impulses and cowardice

Claire Prieur - “F(r)âme(s)” Album

What should be this song about? Nothing but the description of a moment and not intellectual elucubrations.

Lyrics:
Claire Prieur comment tu vas?
C’est qui la petite Léana qui joue avec toi?
Et le petit Joshua qui est dans tes bras?
Claire Prieur comment tu vas?

Back from the Grave - “F(r)âme(s)” Album

In the shadows of one own life, in the anonymity of being just one gear in a huge machine, how do we break through? is our day to day life offering the context for the scenarisation of a cathartic other, one that can scare, dance, conjure, cast a spell, and transform us in a shamanistic presence that can be reborn when visited, that can live again when taking out of the deepness of our soul. A soul, when is not moved becomes a cold grave.

Lyrics:
I don’t remember anything
You’re ruining it
I’m not sharing what I saw

From light to shadow
I’m looking out of a hole
I’m crawling out of the ground

Prepare yourself
Everybody is sleeping??
I hear someone laughing far
Give me a pen
Let’s change this song

I’m coming back from the grave

 I’m done with the run

You don’t remember anything
I’m ruining it
I’m not telling what I saw

I don’t remember anything
You’re ruining it
Let’s change this song

My Own Discomfort - “F(r)âme(s)” Album

When reality, even the one that you have helped to create is too oppressive; a flight - reflex is triggered, one that is going up, up, up, skyhigh!

Lyrics:
I float away
From the things that do good to me
I moved away
From her mood and my challenges

And it is long ago...

I stayed on place
In my own discomfort
I lean afraid
Looking straight into my shadow

And I tried hard enough
But I haven’t said it all...

When I see my hopes and my real life they don't fit at all
I sense the pain I cause when I have you all by my side
And when I still recover and a little sober I always realise
I just want to go up up up

Silence remains the only way out

Try Cry Not [the Truth] - “F(r)âme(s)” Album

How different and how equal are we really? The answer is, depends on what you believe, in what you consider the fundamental truth of your life and this will guide all your actions and your consideration of what the human species is.

Lyrics:
In a way I feel the same
In a way we think the same (in a)
In a way we had to take
We just like to make our own fools

In a grain we see the same
In a far world there is no escape (in a)
In a word of emptiness
We will only live from our truth

Your truth
We will only live there

“F(r)âme(s)” Album - THE QUEST

EFF, as said in the precedent post introducing Hi! Pulpo album, are “a generation with no identitarian struggle or in need of a political recognition but rather, a forgotten part of society that is struggling with its own levels of comfort” Still for the band member it is impossible to distant themselves from how global reality is represented and how these same dynamics set structural limits that can only be trespassed by art production.

And this global reality, this general frames are: identity politics and the subjective adaptation to market capitalism; it is the conviction that we ARE through the identification of a body of knowledge, values, practices etc. This “whole” concede us our individual sense in the world and set us apart to the ones that would like to end this holy order that make us “the people”;

Whether it is familiar, religious, ethnic, sexual, political, gender, alimentary and/or national appartenance, these movements create binary, partial and reactionary ways of conceiving one's role in society. And all this having as a background a regent systemic order of how we should be fitting in the world; which depends on how productive, focused, connected, successful no matter what, no matter how, we have to be

In this schizophrenia of ideological regimes, time use and self construction EFF Music Experience identifies what we are supposed to be as a day to day drama build around us and within ourselves, even transposing such drama as a normality, as this indefinite quest for sense, as pillar of our contemporary world.

They regard this and produce 10 pieces under the name of F(r)ame(s). The fundamental assumption and leading concept of the album is that our painful quest for sense is the result of the lack of transcendence and meaning and the continuous push to be someone rather limited, without contradictions, useful, and well adapted you can add all other adjectives in a job application… stress resistant and the likes… we are longing for and made of frames.

Cheers, Abelardo

“F(r)âme(s)” Album - INTRO

Frames

Fame

Âme

EFF is striping down the world created by words to recreate the multi meaning characteristic of everything.

EFF is taking down the parenthesis or the overused quotations marks that convey relativity as a frame of meaning, to put themselves in the quest for the essential, for the Âme of everything. And they try to answer fundamental questions:

What are we?
What are we individually?
and how how do we articulate socially and mentally in the collective? ...
Is there a real conscious construction of the self or we just take what it is available and we fit in, we find the best middle ground between what we think we are and the dominant dynamics of our society?

And this would be: a mishmash of odd and old (revisited) moral values with capitalistic productivity and online persona construction… and maybe a strong conviction that you have to build where you belong to, because the world, as it is experienced today, it is just succession of ideological trenches and the subjectivity; is lived as a battle between normative narratives and strong feeling of wanting to be free, whatever that means.

The third¹ album of EFF tries to unveil these dynamics in 11 acts.

Cheers, Abelardo

¹ their second entirely online album, their first is just a rare edition where only around 10 hard copies were published.

The Pulpo Series: Hi! Pulpo

Introducing "Pulpo & Friends" Album

The invention of DIY in contemporary artistic expression;

The notion of place has been replaced by the notion of fluidity. A small contextualisation comment.

Art has acquired its legitimacy by being produced, advertised and reproduced in geographical centres that monopolise knowledge and the informational networks derived. By this occupation of such knowledge and tradition, a discourse of what it is considered to be Art is legitimised. So Art would be transversely compared to trends of Luxus, Entertainment and Societal discourses in "vogue" to be named after them to validate Art as a binary response to such trends. The conversations of the Elites.

But the importance and stability of such of art;culture producing centres is being slowly depleted of their relative importance. Street Art has showed us that!

a "Place" of Art production is any given human symbolic interaction embedded in time that is consciously identified as worth of being shared, its the construction of our own subjective fragile concept of beauty, of happiness and of transcendence.

All of these concepts are being worked in the first new album of EFF Music Experience, a "situated art" producing collective whose artistic standpoint can be resumed in using intimate artistic expressions as a way of catalyse of modern woes in Young Families which life are not represented or poorly depicted in mainstream media. It is a generation with no identitarian struggle or in need of a political recognition but rather, a forgotten part of society that is struggling with its own levels of comfort. Drowning in career expectations, boredom and kids.

Since there is no emergency or real threat to this population, (we all are dying slowly of and by asking to ourselves: what should I be really doing now? Does this have any sense?) EFF ME attempt consists in ordering ideas and emotions to produce a dialogue with reality that could be somehow appreciated. It can be seen as just as a stone thrown in the ocean but the process is still that of sucking up sense out of pain and moments of weakness and be able to produce something intimate; theirs, special... EFF Collective is producing art to be able to look back at itself: an interactive mirror where its members can see their emotions transforming.

In an era of place this would have never seen the light, but it is because of the fluidity of concepts and information that this album could overcome issues like geographical distance and different cultures. And this not only by using the means technology makes available but also by allowing themselves to be artist, to see themselves in that way, a fluidity in the considerations about oneself, a construction of a cathartic other.

The Album (and the affirmation that it is possible)

Full of Pop culture (it is an idea for a cartoon, Legos in one of the videos, etc.) Hi! Pulpo is a first try of exploring musical and plastic expression with a certain "detachment". Hi Pulpo started as a practical joke but it represents actually the consolidation of the idea of exploring expression through and with the help of family dynamics in modern urban settings. So it had to be a cartoon! Kids of the band members participated as invited musicians an appeared in some of the videos.

Pulpo and Friends is a psychedelic celebration of life like its introduction theme Hi Pulpo or an Ode to Humanism like Shut Up...
Pulpo and Friends is also an active modern moaning like we can hear in Time
Or a pretentious and assumed environmentalism obviously in Mexico Gulf
Or out of space dub like End Pulpo

As an early stage work and an affirmation statement that creativity can be always nurtured, I let you now to explore these life moments...

Enjoy the album and I wanna thank the collective for giving me the opportunity to introduce this album to the public.

Cheers,
Abelardo

THE GENESIS

London, Ealing, Winter 07/08

A girl from Japan met a guy from Italy who met a guy from Colombia who met a girl from France. In an English school, a crossroad of four lives change some destinies.

It all happened easily, naturally like if it was meant to be. Two couples were born and a strong real friendship started to grow. What happened in London did not stay in London and that's the beauty of it. It was cultivated, nurtured, and spread in the world to give birth to EFF.

EFF is the receptacle of all this reality from enjoying playing music together, telling stories, playing games, spending time together. It became a living art experience nourished by family life.
From the friendship, helping the friendship.  A structure bigger than its four bases; getting stronger aging and giving back this strength.
EFF is that, an experience born from the reunion of 4 entities and a catalyser of 4 artistic minds. It’s bigger than ourselves and it improves everyone of us.

Yours
Lady Miss
